Mission and Mandate

ETA Vaughan is committed to providing Empowerment Through Achievement to women and children from abusive environments. We create a safe haven and opportunities to re-discover and build clients’ strengths, skills and self-worth.

ETA Vaughan aims to serve women and children in York Region and surrounding areas who are currently experiencing abuse, or have experienced abuse at some point in their lives. We provide culturally and religiously sensitive services that honour and respect the diversity of women and children. ETA Vaughan provides emergency shelter, counselling and support to help women and children put an end to the cycle of abuse. We will:

• Empower women and children by ways of counselling, support and advocacy
• Provide emergency shelter that is safe and confidential to women and children escaping abusive situations
• Provide 24 hours crisis counselling via phone and/or in person in an individual or group setting
• Raise awareness and encourage community participation through public education, community counselling, violence prevention efforts, and youth programs
